Looking for a Bargain? Consider Mexico for Spanish Study

If you're thinking about heading to Latin America to study Spanish later this year, Mexico may be the place to go if you're looking for a travel bargain.

Mexico? you ask. Isn't that the place with all the drug killings? Yes, it is, which is why bargains can be found this year. But the good news for travelers is that the killings — and they shouldn't be taken lightly, as the death toll is approaching that of some civil wars — is confined mostly to border areas and a few inland locations far from where most tourists go (the major excepting being in the Acapulco area, which I couldn't in good faith recommend these days). As a participant in a discussion at About.com's Mexico travel blog said a few days ago, "I felt safe in Cabo (San Lucas) unless you count the timeshare bandits," advising that prospective travelers check out conditions with the U.S. State Department.

Student attending language immersion schools in Mexico have given Mexico's immersion schools consistently positive reviews and have said they felt safe there.
